David F. Bruni, M.D., is an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in sports medicine and shoulder reconstructive surgery.

Born in Laredo, Texas, Dr. Bruni is a proud graduate of John B. Alexander High School. He earned degrees in biology and economics from Boston University, completed a post-graduate program in biochemistry at the University of Texas at San Antonio and later received his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia. Then, he completed an orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Texas at Austin - Dell Medical School, where he served as chief resident at Dell Seton Medical Center at The University of Texas and Dell Children's Medical Center, the two level-one trauma centers in Austin, Texas. Dr. Bruni then completed a fellowship in sports medicine and shoulder surgery at Brown University - Alpert School of Medicine in Providence, Rhode Island.

Through his advanced sports medicine training, Dr. Bruni has provided care for high-profile teams including the Texas Longhorns, Austin Bold FC, Providence Bruins, USA Gymnastics and collegiate athletics at Brown University and the University of Rhode Island. He has authored peer-reviewed articles, textbook chapters and presented at national and international conferences on both operative and non-operative orthopedic care. A dedicated educator, he has also instructed courses in arthroscopy and sports medicine surgery.

Driven by a commitment to underserved communities, Dr. Bruni has participated in medical mission trips to Mexico and Honduras, and his current research focuses on improving musculoskeletal care delivery in these populations. He is active in several professional organizations, including the American Medical Society, American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine, among others, and was selected to the Emerging Leaders of the American Orthopedic Association.
